The First Overnight

This past weekend, the hubby and I took the opportunity to escape for a little, one night, mini-getaway. It may not seem like a big deal. But it was. It was the first time in her 16.something months of life that I left her overnight.

Surprisingly, in the hours leading up to leaving, I wasn’t even nervous at all. Which is, obviously, a good thing. It showed me that we were all ready for this and that I knew that she was going to be in great hands.

We didn’t go far. Which was fine. We just scooted over to Niagara Falls, had dinner, went to a really great Beatle’s tribute show and stayed over. The next day, we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast, did some shopping and saw The Vow. Despite the fact that I did not sleep well in the hotel and was wide awake earlier than Evalyn and I normally get up, it was a refreshing, rejuvenating break from the day to day.

And despite the fact that hubster and I didn’t take a single photo to document the time we had away, we do have some photographic evidence to show that Evalyn was no worse for wear during her evening, night and day without Mommy and Daddy.

The best part of our time away was coming back and seeing how excited she was to see us and hearing about how good she was while we weren’t there. She had a blast with her Auntie M and Auntie L and we so very greatly appreciated the time away.

She is just. so. pretty. I'm a teensy bit jealous that you have a baby that looks like you :)

I am terrified for my first night away from Kitty. It hasn't happened yet...but it has to sometime.

Question: Are you doing early potty training or was that just a pic for fun?

We have yet to take a night off....I'm scared to. I don't know how Chloe would react. But I guess one day it will have to happen. LOL! Anyways, She is just so cute! Love the potty picture!!

I'm so glad it went so well!
We're thinking about taking a little trip and I CANNOT decide whether we should bring Natalie or not.

Was it so wonderful to get away for a little bit? Just to not have to worry about feeding the girl for one meal would be enough for me :) Ha!

Oh my goodness, look at her belly sticking out up there! She must have eaten well while you were out. :)

I'm currently sitting at the airport (our flight was delayed HOURS) and I'm equal parts excited as heck to spend some R&R with Peter as well as missing Kirsten and Simon like ca-razy. Oh, and trying to find a freaking bathroom with an outlet so I can pump! Ugh. Thanks for letting me own your comment section with my ranting.

GLAD you and E got away to relax a little. :)

Glad everything went well! Ethan loves staying at my mom's. Every time she comes over he asks her to pick him up and points to the door saying "car!". I call and check up on him a million times of course, but he's always having fun. I think they enjoy the change of scenery as much as we do!

I remember the first time we left the munchkin with someone else overnight. She was right around the same age.... maybe just a little bit older. It was for a whole weekend while we went on a float trip. It's crazy how wonderful and sad it is at the same time. I loved having some "adult time" for a while, but man I sure did miss her like crazy!
