Recovering Addict

My name is Evalyn.

And I am a recovering addict.

A recovering soosie accdict.

There was a day when I needed that soosie with me at all times or I would freak! out!

I used to want it while I was awake. And while I was sleeping. While I was being held. And while I was playing. I thought my life could not go on without my soosie.

Sometimes, I’d call my mommy into my room five or ten times a night just so she could put the soosie in my mouth so I could have my fix.

But, now, I am recovering.

I don’t need my soosie during the day while I’m awake anymore.

And, even better (for mama) I don’t sleep with it anymore, either.

I fall asleep on my own without it and I very rarely wake up during my naps or in the middle of the night asking for a soosie fix.

I still like my soosie when I’m in the car sometimes.

And when Mom’s wearing me.

But overall, I am recovering.

My name is Evalyn and I am a recovering addict.

I'm so torn on the soosie (or paci, as I say.)

I don't want to worry about an addicted baby either, but I don't think I'm strong enough to not give her/him one should he/she need it (to give mama a few blessed hours of sleep.

I don't know what to do.

Oh man Avin still likes hers a lot or all the time.. ugh I worry about breaking her from it.. going to start having set times she can have it on her first birthday :) glad she is not needing it as much anymore!

We were avoiding the pacifier. We did this successfully for two, almost three weeks. Then I was in Target while Jarrod was in the car with screaming Ethan and I came out to a pacifier in his mouth (Ethan's, not Jarrod's), and the rest is history. He doesn't *need* it at any specific time, but there are certainly times when it's like, "Where's the pacifier already!?" Sigh. I am glad your girl is recovering, though. ;)

1. Adorable picture. Well, adorable babies make adorable pictures I guess!
2. I've never heard it called a "soosie" before!
