Easter Weekend Recap

Well, it's Monday night and here I am getting my weekend recap together. The truth is, this really kind of is just the end of my weekend. The dude gets both Good Friday and Easter Monday off at his job, and I only had a few things to do in the morning, so it was a wonderfully extended weekend.

We headed to my parent's place on Thursday after I was done work. We made a quick stop at a mall on the way, because it's the closest Old Navy location with a maternity section. Lucky for us, there was a 25% off sale on everything in the store. I was able to pick up some tee's and tanks for super duper cheap. Good deal!

When we got to my parent's house, my Bro and SIL were already there and we were welcomed with a delicious feast prepared for us by Mumma and Daddy that featured ....

Caprese Salad
Escargot
Steak, sauteed mushrooms, garlic shrimp, proscuttio wrapped asparagus, salad
We spent the evening visiting and playing fun card games. On Friday morning, we were awoken with the news that the Easter Bunny had been to visit. We searched high and low until we found all the goodies. Thanks, Easter Bunny! I especially cherished the hunt since I was informed, in no uncertain terms, that this would be my last Easter egg hunt ever, since from now on, it will be all about the baby. The Fabulous Dude was oh-so-excited to be up early, searching for chocolate eggs.

Friday was a gorgeous day and we spent a lot of the time outside. The girls sat in lawn chairs, painted our toes and chatted while the boys mowed the grass, washed the cars and did other work. Just the way it should be! We also went for a hike and played some games. My grandparents joined us for dinner to celebrate Easter together and then we watched the Blind Side. What a great movie!

On Saturday, I got myself a little hair cut and then spent the afternoon going for a walk and playing games (um, I think we like to play games or something). In the evening, we headed to our friend's place to have dinner and play Wii. Remember when I wrote about my mom's Dr. Mario addiction from when I was a child? Hm, apparently these things are hereditary.

On Sunday, we went to church and then came home and had a little bit of lunch. My mom and I then went for a big ol' walk. Seriously, that lady can walk! She tires me (and Nika) out every time! While we were busy walking, Dad and the FD were working on tearing out their bathroom to get it ready for the renos that will be taking place in the next few weeks. After supper on Sunday, we headed back home and just hung out at home for the evening.

Today, I had to get up at the butt crack of dawn and head to campus to cover some classes for a fellow TA. When I got home, I was pleased to be greeted by clothes hanging out on the line and my dude attempting to make making banana bread in the kitchen. He only had to dump one bowl of ingredients in the garbage and start again when he made a mistake. I spent the remaining part of the morning grading papers while he watched some crazy hunting show and then we headed into town. We had to run some errands and while we were out the baby decided that it wanted some fish and chips. Lucky for us it was a beautiful day and one restaurant with a patio features Fish and Chips on Mondays. Baby was happy!

After we returned home, the dude went to change the tires on my car (goodbye Snow Tires!) and help his boss with some things. I spent the time folding laundry, finishing my grading and enjoying the sunshine outside. Then we spent our evening running a few more errands and working in the garden. And by working in the garden, I clearly mean ....

... me laying on the grass with Nika, watching the dude do all the work. Don't judge! I do work in the garden, but my jobs tend to come later (i.e. when we plant and when the harvest is ready!)

I loved looking around the farm and seeing the bare trees, knowing that before too long they will be filled with cherries and plums and peaches! I cannot wait!

We finished the evening off with a bike ride around the block. I love bike riding so I've got to get as much of it in this spring as I can before I become too, um, rotund to manage. The bike ride was great but I am more out of shape than I realized ... I had to take two breaks. Shh, don't tell.

Now, I'm ready to watch some tele and then hit the sack. After a restless night of little sleep, I have a feeling I will be crashing early tonight.

By the way, for those of you who have been thinking of and praying for the FD's Grammie, she had a very difficult weekend as she faced some adverse effects from medication but it appears as though she is feeling a bit better. My inlaws are waiting to speak with some surgeons and at this point, surgery may be taking place somewhere around the 13th. They aren't really sure what they are going to do though, as the break is in a difficult location. I will keep you posted. Thank you for the prayers!

Sorry for the super duper long post ... I guess I had a lot to say tonight.

what a nice and fun Easter weekend celebration for you and your family.

I am glad your family gave you a warning that your Easter basket hunting days are over. That was nice of them ;-)

Mmmm...love caprese salad! Snails are one of those few things I plan never to try.
What a fabulous place you have; are you free to pick the fruit?
Hey, how are your chickens?

Sounds like you had a GREAT Easter. The food you had looks like something from a fancy restuarant. I wish I had those skills!

FD's Grammie is still in my prayers!
