And so it begins

Today marks a very monumental day in the Mr and Mrs Fabulous Dude household. Some might even say that today is the most important day of the year. More important than our birthdays, more important than our anniversary, more important, dare I say, than Christmas.

Today my friends is the first day of hunting season.

Over the course of the next few months, my husband will be an elusive body in our home. I will be lucky to catch a glimpse of him as he camos himself up and sneaks out of the house quiet as a mouse in the wee hours of the morning. I will anxiously await his return at dark thirty in the evenings.

It starts with waterfowl, sometimes moves to Moose, from there we're into deer season (which includes rifle, muzzle loader and bow season). Then we sometimes take a small break for Christmas starting right back up with rabbit, grouse and finally back into waterfowl. When March arrives, there is nothing to be shot at so we get to rest. April and May bring turkey season. Then we've arrived back at the summer, where we get a few months off to dedicate to preparations for the next season.

Starting now, in order to catch my hubby's attention, my wardrobe choices will have to revolve around mossy oak breakup, blaze orange and Max 4 advantage. If I want him to take a second look, I have to look like this.

Our dates will involve cuddling in tree stands, setting up decoys in the field, removing the truck from 2 feet of mud and if I'm really lucky, we'll get to turn my kitchen into a meat processing plant.

Today is the day that my fabulously handsome dude magically transforms from this ....

To this...

So hunting widows wives unite, as we approach another season of gunshots, bow strings, lonesome evenings and wild game.

Craig won't be able to this season b/c he's going away. Looking back it makes me lament moaning and groaning so much when he was leaving me for a week of deer hunting!

You look great camo'd up though!

Hey there Miss Outdoorsy!

I am sorry for your loss. ;) On the bright side, you look hot in that camo!!

I'll be here if you need a little "non-professional counseling" though.

I'm with ya girl! The Bass Pro Shops trip is on for tomorrow, to "gear up"...if you will. I'm losing mine for at least 10 days at the end of the month. Let the madness begin!

LOL!! Mine loves sports, but he's never been a hunter. One of my close friend's boyfriend is a major hunter, though. I told him I wanted deer meat!!

My best friend is in the same exact boat! But, he just shattered his trigger finger, so it buys her a little more time :)

I hear ya sister! I came home from work the other morning to find Luke on the deck with a coffee cup in one hand and a rifle in the other. Why the boys had to go and ruin a perfectly nice season (fall) I'll never know!

Oh Lucy Marie. I am so sorry for you. That is a lot of hunting! My cousins only really came out for the deer sections- I had no idea there were so many other options!

(Although- when I was a kid summer did bring lots of fishing- I kinda miss that.)

Anyway, at least your tough guy will bring you home some nummies! maybe?

Oh wow! What you go through for your guy! I've always wanted to try on those clothes at the store and take pictures :) But I fear they will yell at me for having no intention of buying them. Ha!

I'm glad Brian doesn't hunt at times but then again I would enjoy a weekend of quiet time during hunting season. LOL!!! Try not to mourn so much. XOXO
