she’s her daddy’s girl

The husband is about as outdoorsman’y as they come. He hunts, he fishes, he does yard work. Basically, he’d live outside if he could. Little Miss Evalyn has gained her love for the outdoors from him. So far, in her limited 2.5 years of experience, this has consisted mostly of spending hours and hours playing outside. She would also live outside if she could.

She likes to go for walks, dig worms, do chalks, ride her bike, help Daddy in the garden, go to the park – it doesn’t really matter what – as long as she’s outside.

Last week, Evan decided to give her her first introduction to a favorite outdoor pastime of his – fishing.

Evalyn was over the moon excited during dinner at the prospect of going fishing with Daddy and gobbled up her food in record time. Unsurprisingly, though, the actual experience was not as amazing. I think Evan’s words were, “that was the worst fifteen minutes of fishing ever”. I don’t think she quite grasped the fact that she would just have to stand still on the side of the riverbank. I don’t blame her. I think fishing is way more fun in theory than in reality.

Needless to say, Evalyn still thought it was pretty cool and is still talking about going fishing with Daddy, how she caught one fish, and how she poked it in the eye.

Fishing

She’s her Daddy’s girl, without a doubt (side note: are they twins or what!!).

I’m sure there will be many, many more fishing dates in the future … only this time, he may wait another few years to invite her again.

At least you got cute pictures out of it :) Crazy how much E looks like Evan and G looks like you - both lucky little ladies!

Sooo cute! My brother was 3 when he caught his first fish and he still loves fishing. I can't believe she really caught one, so fun!
