Our world is not so bad

Our world is not so bad.

You know how I know?

Because the other day, a young teenage boy went entirely out of his way to hold the door for a mom wrangling a baby, a stroller and a diaper bag at the mall. As in, he was already out the door and it had closed but he walked back to open it when he noticed her.

Because a young professional man made an effort to not just wave, but make eye contact and mouth “thank you” when someone slowed down to let him cross the street in front of them.

Because a sweet cashier, at a store that doesn’t bag your groceries for you, helped a young mom with a fussy baby bag her groceries and get out of there faster.

Because a Doctor took an extra few minutes to ask how “everything else” was going at a doctor’s appointment that had nothing to do with “everything else”.

Because a friend saw a need and offered a lending hand without being asked.

Because a husband set himself aside to bless his wife.

Because a group of “strangers” prayed for, encouraged and supported each other through their daily lives.

Our world is not so bad.

You know how I know?

Because, lately, I’ve been seeing good deeds happen all around me.

This is an incredibly sweet post, Lucy. I'm glad you're enjoying all of these good deeds and taking positive comfort from them. Maybe the world is on a little upswing, and maybe people are starting to see how these teeny tiny things really do make a big difference. I hope the streak of good deeds you're seeing continues. :)

=) What a sweet, optimistic post. And I think you're right. There's a lot of bad in this world...but there's a lot of good, too.

I was gonna write such a similar post this week after a seemingly silly teen helped me at the grocery. Those moments always give me such hope. LOVE IT.

I've been noticing more nice, random acts of kindness around me too, and thank you for sharing yours.

Lucy...thanks for the reminder to all of us...treat others like we'd like to be treated...what a world we would live in if we all remembered this EVERY day...I need my baby E fix soon

Sure makes me appreciate the simple things in life, that's for sure. Because those "simple" things you've mentioned, are not so simple at all in the grand scheme of things and often go unnoticed. It's sad really, I wish these things were more publicized than all of the bad things happening in our world today! Thanks for the great post which made me feel very thankful for the simple thigns in life!
