Well, my weekend recap is one day late since I chose to spend yesterday moaning and groaning about my re-acquaintance with morning sickness.
The dude had Friday off (two short weeks in a row - what a life!) so we headed up north to his hometown on Thursday evening when I was done work. His sister, nieces and nephew from the states had been visiting for their Spring Break. Unfortunately, Baby C got sick with an ear infection so SIL had to take him home. The girls weren't very pumped about cutting their vacation short, so they got to stay since we were going up and could drive them part way to meet their dad on Sunday.
On Friday, we spent the day with them and went to visit E's other sister, who just had a baby. I was so anxious to meet my newest niece! She is so cute and I could not get enough snuggles.
Later that afternoon, I was reading books with two of the girls and they decided that they should help put their baby cousin to sleep. They sat their and listened to me read, rubbing by belly, for ages! So sweet.
Saturday was the big event. Caley's first bridal shower. She received so many nice things for her new home. The girl was even lucky enough to get TWO oven mitts! (Background: one year for Christmas her mom gave each of the girl's one oven mitt in their stocking. They did not think that was very safe. Poor Aunt Peg has never lived that one down! HELLO PEGGY!)
Marnie made a special little outfit for Caley out of all the tissue paper and bows from the gifts, so she modeled that for us at the end. Here she is with 4 of the 7 bridesmaids.
And she and I together....
After the shower, we took it easy for the night and then got up on Sunday morning to get the girls ready for Sunday school. E's parents had to leave early to go with his Grammie as they transported her to the hospital in Toronto. (She is scheduled to have surgery today, btw ...)
We took the girl's to Sunday school and then headed home to get packed up for the long trip to meet their daddy. We have a fairly little car, so packing all of our stuff, plus two car seats, plus two kids, plus two adults, and one dog was quite the adventure. It all worked out though.
Nika got a very ... interesting seat for the ride.
We stopped at good ol' McD's for a quick bite of lunch and then we were on our way for our three hour journey! We sang silly songs the whole way and the girls loved getting to roll down the windows and feel the breeze in their hair as we cruised through small towns.
After dropping them off with Daddio, E and I finished our day with the two hour drive home, stopping to get groceries along the way.
It was a great weekend for so many reasons - meeting our new niece, spending time with our older nieces, getting to be a part of Caley's shower, and seeing the inlaw's for the first time in a few months.

Such cute photos. You are looking more and more preggers every day!!! I am loving it!!!
What a wonderful weekend! Oh, and what good "packing the car" practice for when baby C. comes. You may only be having one, but you'll probably be packing the car the same way. Tiny babies sure do need a lot of stuff. ;)
XO*T
