Stuck: Update

My Mumma and Pops are stuck in Amsterdam.

They left a week ago Saturday with their friends, to fly across the ocean and spend a luxurious week on a Riverboat Cruise down the Rhine. They were going to France, Germany, Austria and some other locations.

They were meant to fly home from Amsterdam on Saturday night, returning to Canada early Sunday morning.

Due to the volcanic activity in Iceland and the impassable air space, they are stuck in Amsterdam.

As of this morning, they have confirmed flights home for NEXT Monday ... 9 days after their original return date. They are planning to call the airport daily to try to find an earlier flight, but it's possible that they will be sitting tight for the next week.

While being stranded in your vacation destination does not seem like an entirely bad thing, my poor Mumma is a type A worry wart just like her baby and I know she is likely struggling to keep her sanity. Both my parents and their friends they are traveling with have work commitments, children, and other responsibilities that they are having to attempt to deal with from across the world.

Please pray for their safety and sanity over the next week - and also that they are able to find an earlier flight home!

Update: Thanks to the many, many prayers that said on their behalf, my parents and their friends managed to snag the last four seats on a direct flight from Amsterdam to Toronto that was meant to leave this morning. After some difficulty and having to switch planes, the last I have heard is that they were taking off. So, as far as I know, they are somewhere over the ocean as we speak and should be home by this evening! Thanks for your thoughts and prayers on their behalf! Continuing praying for the other travelers who are trying to make their way home or to their destinations.

ick - that SUCKS! air transportation is basically grounded in all of europe right now - people are going nuts. if it's any consolation, i heard on the news yesterday that they sent a few test flights up into the air & there was absolutely no damage reported to the engines. the plane companies are lobbying to get flights back in the air, so maybe they'll be able to come home soon!!!

O no! I would hate to be stuck somewhere! NO matter where that somewhere is! I'm a big worry wart too. I hope they get hope early, I'll be thinking about them!

i'll certainly remember them. our pastor was heading back from africa by way of europe and is currently stuck as well. prayers for him and his family (he & his wife have a young son that i'm sure he's eager to get home to) would be welcome too.

Will do! I can't imagine what I'd be like if I were in their shoes. Praying for a safe (most importantly!) and quick return home :)
