Dear Baby and a 20 Week Bump Shot

On the camera, this photo seemed to show my sticky outty belly button but now that it's on here, it doesn't seem so obvious.

Dear Baby,

Here we are ... halfway through this part of our journey together. And this is just the beginning! We have so many more exciting adventures ahead of us. From now on, you are a part of me and I am a part of you.

I love carrying you inside me, baby. Some days I get tired and think that this whole pregnancy thing kind of stinks, but then I feel you wiggle in there, and I remember how lucky I am. I still have to take medicine so that I don't get sick, but overall I'm feeling much better and now you are starting to make me getting really hungry all the time! Mommy loves getting to eat snacks whenever she wants. I can't get enough potato chips. I think you're going to be a Miss Vickie's lover like your Mom and Nana!

Daddy and I talk about you all the time. We've started to plan and prepare for your arrival. We've started picking out things for your bedroom and last night we bought you a car seat and stroller. I can't wait until the day that I get to strap you into that seat and bring you to your new home.

Daddy always calls you "he". I sometimes do that, too. But lately, I've begun to wonder if perhaps you are a little girl nestled in there. No matter what the case, your daddy and I are thrilled just to call you our own.

Yesterday we got to see you for the first time, baby! Daddy and I were both amazed. When I saw your little heart beating, it melted mine. I also fell in love with your little hands and your little feet. Soon, I will get to tickle those little feet. Many times, I've caught myself staring at your picture on the fridge and thinking about what you'll look like when you're born. Daddy loved seeing the details of your spinal cord. We are amazed at how God has created you, a tiny human, inside of me!

I'm so thankful that we've made it this far together. I feel a little selfish saying that I like having you all to myself right now.

Sweet baby, stay safe, warm, and cozy inside there for another 20 or so weeks. I'll see you when I see you.

I love you,

Mommy

P.S. Here's what we look like at 20 weeks...

*Just a note: Those are not stretch marks on the side of my belly. They are two scars that I have from a fall onto wet gravel at camp a number of years ago. When my dad saw my belly a few weeks ago, he was disgusted and said "Ugh, are those stretch marks ... ALREADY?" Thanks, Pops.

1. There is a chance I have that same pink shirt. A chance.

2. That scares me because it is not a maternity shirt.

3. You're a mommy. I cannot get over that. Seriously. :)

men are so senstive aren't they? *eye roll* and it doesn't change when they are fathers either. my dad has said something equally insenstive. i just pretended that the commandment about honoring him didn't exist and shot him the evil eye.

So so Precious!! And I can totally see your belly button popping!! That is so funny your dad said that about the scars! I love how we have to defend any mark on our belly so people know they aren't stretch marks!! hehe I had to do that with my fenway acratch so I know how it goes haha
