Thank you for being so respectful of my wishes today and only posting really really boring and uninteresting stuff on your blogs! You are now free to post about whatever you wish. I managed to work most of the day without stopping for any blog reading breaks. Okay, I'm lying. I read a few posts here and there.
But, let me tell you ... I've still got it in me! I managed to pump out the entire draft of my proposal by 2:00 p.m. today. 23 pages of magic. I'm pretty excited and feel like I have at least somewhat made up for lost time. I also managed to get a few questions answered from the ethics board, narrow my recruiting options down to two organizations and prepare for some upcoming meetings. I forgot what it feels like to be (academically) productive. It feels gooooood!
In other news, I quit biting my nails! That's one item off the bucket list. I haven't been biting for about 1.5-2 months. I am quite proud of myself. I find that if I keep them prettied up with some clear polish that I am less likely to bite. Right now, they are all residing just above my finger tips which is a huge accomplishment for a girl who has lived 20 plus years with the shortest bitten nails in the history of the world. The problem is after years and years of biting they are very brittle and weak so they break very easily. Do any of you have any suggestions of what I can do to strengthen them? Right now I'm using Nutra Nail Green Tea Nail Hardener which is working okay but I'm having to re-apply every two days, which just isn't cool. Suggestions, please!!
In even more other news, I can't stop eating chocolate. I always have some dark chocolate in the house for when I have a craving. Usually a bite or two and I'm satisfied. I just cannot kick this craving over the past few days. I've drastically depleted my dark chocolate stockpile and now I'm sitting here with a small bowl of chocolate chips. Please don't judge me.
I'd also like to say thanks for a few awards I've received in the past little while ...
Thanks to Cristina and C for awarding me with the Lovely Blog Award! Thanks, Gals!
And Brittany was so gracious as to present me with this:
Thanks, I love your blog, too!
The bowl of chocolate chips is now gone. I feel sick to my stomach. Perhaps I've kicked the craving.

YAY! Glad you go your paper done or made a dent in it.
I never did bite my nails.. lots of other things I did, but not that. No suggestion as to what to use. I normally just use some sort of nail hardener after I have had my nails removed from having them done weeks prior.
Mmm chocolate. I get hooked on certain foods too. No one is going to judge you!
Hurrah! Thesis proposal and nail-biting conquered! Good work, girl!
Ahhh. I totally ate a bowl of chocolate chips the other night. Mixed with butterscotch chips. Don't tell anyone. :)
good job on not biting! i am still trying to get my mom to stop and she has been doing really well also.
Congrats on being productive today!!! It does feel good, doesn't it?
Oh and the chocolate thing -- I totally have a bowl of dark chocolate chips on my counter RIGHT NOW!! Chocolate chips are one of the few chocolates a nut-allergic girl can enjoy :)
don't buy anymore chocolate and you'll stop thinking about it...lol...if its in the house you're going to eat it :)
Yipee! That's great Linz.
I'm so proud of you for not biting your nails, that's wonderful, but am concerned that I got you onto chocolate chips, because of my post. Maybe I should write that down as another thing I didn't do....lol Hope you have a wonderful day sweets.
Congrats on crossing something off your bucket list! I could totally use some of that nail hardener myself.
Congrats on your awards...
Don't get me started on chocolate...hahaha.
At least you put your chocolate chips in a bowl. I eat mine right out of the bag and before I know it...the bag is gone! That is why I can't keep them in the house. So sad...
Hee hee...I too was eating chocolate chips last night as that was the only chocolate I could find! I too love our friend/enemy chocolate! :-)
Congrats on getting your paper done...you are sooo awesome!!!
I never was a nail biter, (but I was a hair twirler/twister) I have acrylic nails though so I have the permanent french manicure look...the good thing about acrylic nails is that polish lasts for weeks and you won't be tempted to bite them, although you already kicked that habit! Good for you!
Happy Wednesday!
Love,
Denise :-)
you are welcome.
Congratulations on the proposal. that is huge!
Glad you were able to concentrate enough to finish your proposal! ;) Yay for awards! :D
I've bitten my nails on and off for years. One thing that I've found to be wonderful for brittle and splitting nails is Biotin. I buy a bottle of 120 at WalMart, brand name is Spring Valley, 5000 mcg. Take just one a day. My nails are fabulous and very long.
