My Christmas House

Happy December!

The only thing I love better than decorating for Autumn, is decorating for Christmas. It is just theeee best! We decorated the house nice and early this year but it's taken me a while to get myself organized to share pictures with you. I also have plans in the coming weeks to show you some of my favourite decorations and tell you the story behind them. Yes, I am a complete sap!

Before I start into the pictures of this post - please let me say that I have no yet mastered the fine art of photographing a Christmas tree or Christmas decorations. I have seriously taken about 50 photos of my tree trying to get a decent one and none are really very good. Please teach me, oh wise photographer friends.

The decorating started by going to pick out the very perfect tree and digging out all of our Christmas decorations.

We started by decorating the house - including swapping my regular dishes for Christmas dishes - and then stopped to have some dinner. I think the Fabulous Dude cooking breakfast for dinner is going to become a Christmas decorating day tradition.

After supper, we began decorating the tree. Actually, the FD began decorating the tree while I finished up with some other decorations around the house. Believe it or not, FD is very particular when it comes to our Christmas tree. So, he does the lights, the ribbon and the garland and then I am allowed to swoop in and help with arranging the Christmas balls and other decorations. Although, he ends up rearranging pretty much everything even after I put them on the tree.

We are really happy with the one we got this year. The first year we lived here, we ended up having to stack our tree on piles and piles of magazines because it was way too short. This year's tree is a bit bigger than past years, but it is the perfect shape and the new decorations that were passed on from my mom make it look spectacular!

The table gets set a lot more often during the Christmas season so I can make good use of my Christmas dishes, placemats, place card holders and centrepiece.

I love penguins and so many of my Christmas decorations reflect that.

Even the soap in the kitchen is in a penguin dispenser!

These ceramic penguins are a set that my Mom painted many many many many many years ago. I'm glad to have them in my home now.

Each nook and cranny has it's own special Christmas touch.

This little pillow matches our stockings, which will soon be hung by the fireplace. For some reason, we don't hang them there for the entire time that our decorations are up. I am not really sure why? There are a few decorations I didn't show on here yet, but that's because I want to share them with you a little later. So stay tuned!

This post is being shared at The Holly Bloggy Christmas Bash: Christmas Tree Event, The Nester's home tour, Kelly's Korner: Show us your life - Christmas Trees.

Nice job decorating! Do you want to come decorate for me!?!? haha There is nothing like the smell of a real Christmas tree! I've always had a real tree, so I'm hoping to keep this tradition going forever! I love those 3 little mini-trees you have by your sliding door, where did you get those!?!?

Oh, I haven't decorated my house yet, so thanks a lot for inspiration. I usually do the decor later, since I get kinda tired of the Christmas tree easily. Anyway, your house looks really nice and I can just feel Christmas from the pics.

Your tree is perfect! Perfect shape, size, and perfectly decorated (wink, wink FD ;)
Lucky you. See now I get why your tree can be put up so early. I wish Jason would help me. He carries it in and plops it in the stand. That's where it ends.
I'm feeling more inferior now though. ;)

It is hard to take a good picture of a tree, I had the same problem! But yours came out great and I like your decorations. Breakfast for dinner is my husband's speciality as well! :-)
