I just returned home from leading my last seminars of the semester! It is so hard to believe how quickly it went by.
Although some of them will come see me in my last few sets of office hours over the next few days with frantic questions about their final proposal, and I will spend about 572 hours with them on paper marking their proposals, our face-to-face, in class interaction is done.
I always feel a bit sad on this day. I feel like by the time we reach the end of the 12 week semester, I am just at the point where I am really getting to know my student's and am in a position to really provide them with the assistance they need, and then the semester is over, I say goodbye to them, wish them luck and get ready to meet a new batch of students in the New Year.
I was lucky to have two great classes this semester. One of them, especially, made waking up before dawn every Wednesday morning just a little bit more enjoyable.
As much as I sometimes hate marking their work, and sometimes want to shake them when they do their assignments wrong, I love my students and have had a blast with them this term! After a night of restless sleep, a very early morning, and a largeeeeeeee coffee, I sent them off with well wishes and good luck for the remainder of their papers and exams and I felt a little twinge of sadness.
Oh ya - and I'm also ready for it to start snowing. I'm pretty sure I have never said those words before but seriously - enough with these warm temps, bring on the white fluffy stuff (but only in the middle of the night when I don't have to be out and about, please).

I can see how this would be a bittersweet time. Enjoy the downtime before your next set!
eek - keep your snow wishes to YOURSELF!!!! :)
I'm ready for real snow too!!! We had a slight dusting last week but it was gone within 2 hours. LOL!!! XOXO
I agree -- it's tough when you get to the end of the semester and have to say goodbye. that's where I feel classroom k-12 teachers have a real blessing that college instructors do not.
let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!
of course we won't get any until april, if at all. but at least you'll post pretty pictures and i can be jealous.
