Am I The Only One?

Lately I've been wondering...

Am I the only one who only showers if I know I'm going somewhere that day?

Am I the only one who sometimes gets to the end of the day and wonders what on earth made me say the things I did, do the things I did and think the things I did that day?

Am I the only one who doesn't pray often enough?

Am I the only one who wears PJs at all times while I am at home?

Am I the only one who wishes my boobs were a bit bigger and my tummy was a bit flatter?

Am I the only one who doesn't know scripture well enough?

Am I the only one who sometimes says things like "I wonder how hard it would be to hide your body if I killed you" to my husband?

Am I the only one who feels like they do the same thing day after day and yet gets nothing done?

Am I the only one who is afraid of not living up to worldly expectations?

Am I the only one who would rather boss people around rather than getting off my butt and doing things myself?

Am I the only one who fears rejection?

Am I the only one who sometimes runs out of things to talk to her husband about?

Am I the only one who is too stubborn, too impatient, too quick to get angry, too judgmental?

Am I the only one who sings at the top of my lungs in the car even though I know my singing voice can make a child cry?

Am I the only one gets envious of people who have gorgeous homes, expensive cars and designer clothes?

Am I the only one who only shaves my legs if I know I am going to be wearing something short?

To go with that, am I the only one who selects outfits according to the shaved-ness of my legs?

Am I the only one who catches myself measuring my value based on other people's lives and thinking that "I'm okay because I'm not quite as bad as her or him or them" or "I need to be more like her"?

Am I the only one who usually chooses chocolate over fruit?

Am I the only one who is sometimes a really crappy wife?

Am I the only one who has the messiest car in the history of the world that only gets washed/vacuumed/cleaned when my husband gets sick of looking at it?

Am I the only one who thinks I might die if I can't have a baby?

Am I the only one who drinks way too much pop?

Am I the only one who sometimes wonders if I've made the right decisions in my life?

Am I the only one who wonders if I will live up to the life God has called me to?

Am I the only one who really really really loves hot dogs?

Thanks to my girl Britt and her brave post about honesty, I am pretty sure that I am not the only one. That knowledge is reassuring.

So next time you are in that place, in the midst of a bunch of people have got it all together, where you wonder if you are the only one, please know that you're not.

I'm right there with you, girlfriend.

Oh honey, you're not the only one.

XO*T

P.S. The 4 of us really are freakishly alike, btw. (The "How hard would it be to hide your body", no joke I said something like that to jason a couple of days ago.) lol. oh. scary.

Thanks for the shout out!

And to answer your questions: No way are you alone. Because I was nodding along with EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.

Especially this one:

Am I the only one who sometimes says things like "I wonder how hard it would be to hide your body if I killed you" to my husband?

Amen, sister, amen.

oh you are so NOT the only one. although i really don't want my boobs to get any bigger - but i'll take the flatter stomach! :)

great post!

If you look at someone and think "they've got it together", you are being deceived either by yourself or by them! I would so much rather be friends with someone like you who freely admits her weaknesses than someone who pretends they don't have any!!!

Thank you for this. I love how open and honest you were!

Um, no. I relate to so many things you said!

I only shower on days I work out...and that's just because I have to. Showering is literally one of my least favorite things to do.

I have all of these things I think about during the day to pray for...but sometimes I forget to do it. Or when I go to do it...I forget what I wanted to pray for! I need to start saying little prayers throughout the day!

I put on sweatpants as soon as I walk in the door.

Definitely don't know scripture well enough.

Sometimes when Matt and I are sitting on the couch...I try to think about things to talk about or what I want to tell him...and I can't think of anything.

I think judgment is a huge flaw of mine. But I notice when others do it very quickly...and try not to do it myself. But then in turn, am I judging them for being judgmental??

I definitely scream sing in my car....and dance like a person having a seizure.

I am constantly envious of those that have what I want...or even the ability to have what I want.

I also plan my outfits on whether or not my legs are shaved...which 90% of the time is not. And I wear shorts at the gym. I don't care about the gym.

You know my feelings on chocolate and babies.

And did you know that when I was a little girl..I wouldn't eat anything BUT hot dogs? At holiday events at my extended family's house..they would have to make me hot dogs because I refused to eat turkey or whatever else they were serving.

So no, you are not alone :)

LONGEST COMMENT EVER!

I'm with you on pretty much all of them except singing in the car and hotdogs (ever seen how they're made?).

As I sit here in my PJs at 10:30...no you are not alone:)

There were many others that I agree with.

You are definitely NOT the only one. I actually hate showering - it's too much effort! LOL

I am right there with you on almost all of that.

Wowzers.

Showers- I take more for myself- because- you never know when you might go somewhere unexpectedly.

I often don't know why I did things. they always seemed like a good idea at the time.

I think I pray enough. In fact I am the perfect example to "pray continually"- some verse in the NT

Nope. I don't wear PJs at home- because sometime I don't like to wear *gasp* anything. Chris does not like this- he is worried someone will sneak up on me.

I think my boobs are plenty big- in fact smaller would be ok with me- but I want a smaller tummy almost everyday. Unfortunetly- the handful of halloween candy I just ate doesn't help.

As seen above- I know my scripture well enough.

I always get immense amounts of stuff done. weirdo.

I am worried about living up to worldly expectations- even family expectations are hard to live up to sometimes. you know?

Being a boss is why you become a mother. or a nanny. It is great.

I am so scared of being rejected. It is so silly- It even still slips its way into our marriage- It is frustrating that I am still so sensitive.

For awhile we ate in silence- or we would just talk about work/school- so I asked Chris to try to talk to me- really talk to me- and now he asks me about the weather sometimes. = )

Yes you are. I never ever do those things.

OMG- you can't sing either!? amen. I thought I was the only one.

Gorgeous clothes and designer handbags are the for those who are trying to keep up with those around them- you don't need them to be happy. In my humble, sometimes insecure and jealous opinion.

shave-less legs . . . that is what winter is for!

Oh dear. I understand that value issue- it goes with the worldly expectations. sigh.

Yumm-fruit dipped in chocolate?

crappy wife? never. Maybe a little unkind, jealous, naggy and disrespectful- but crappy? never.

Don't let your husband see our car!

I would like a baby- yes please. I have not even thought of not being able to. Let's not go there? ok?

Pop! I love you because you just called it what it is supposed to be called. none of this soda/coke stuff.

what are the right decisions? How do we know?

How do we know what kind of calling we have? I don't think I could be an Esther. I really don't.

Hot dogs- so so so bad for you and yet- so so so good.

hugs friend. Thanks for your honesty.

L, What do I have to say to convince you that it wasn't your singing that made Sam cry? It was the song. The song, I tell you!

Girl! I think the exact same thing on every single one of those! The only thing I think differently about is my car...I don't wash it anymore due to it's extreme oldness.

LOVE THIS!!

I seriously sprint from the front door to my dresser to put on pjs when I get home from work. I bypass the dogs, the hubby, everything...haha!

You are not the only one.

I don't shave regularly & often plan my clothes around the state of my legs.

I often wish that I could flip flop my belly & boobs. yep, wish one were smaller & others were bigger.

You're not alone!
