The Weekend

Good morning, lovelies! We had a fabulous weekend. Monday was a holiday for us here in Ontario. Civic holiday, to be exact. That means .... well, I have no idea what it means, but I don't really care. If they're going to give us a holiday, I'm not going to ask any questions. I think perhaps civic is code for "there is no holiday in August and we really want one".

On Friday night, my brother and SIL came over for dinner and to stay the night. FD was lucky enough to get a pit in his cherry pie, which means he gets a dollar. The fabulous dude and my bro are MCing at our friends wedding later in the summer so they were working on their material for that. While they did that, Logi and I played a round of The Office DVD game. You shoulda seen how many Schrute Bucks I was rakin' in! Then we made a quick trip to Walmart and came home to watch a movie.

On Saturday, the boys got up disgustingly early and headed out to go fishin'. Logi and I hung around for the morning, made these, and then headed out to go blueberry picking. The berries were delicious! We picked 10 litres and then came home. In the afternoon, the guys were working on some projects outside so Logi and I joined them and started working on a project I've been putting off for a while (to be seen by you later). We finished the day off with a delicious supper, a game of Skip-bo and then they headed home. The FD and I spent the rest of the evening relaxing at home.

Sunday morning, we got up and headed to church. We had plans to go to the states for lunch and to go shopping for my birthday presents but when we got to the border and saw the line up, we quickly changed our minds and did a U-turn and headed back into Canada. It was the first time I've ever had to tell the customs officer that I actually haven't been out of Canada when he asks how long we've been gone. Since that plan got turned upside down, we grabbed a quick bite to eat at a restaurant close to home and then headed home for a nap. We decided to see Harry Potter that night (I know, I know, it's about time!) so we headed over to the Falls and shopped a bit there first.

I was so excited to see that most of the shops have their Fall decorations out already! Despite the fact that summer hasn't really quite arrived to our neck of the woods yet, I cannot wait until fall. I love that season! I was disappointed with shopping though because, although we were meant to be shopping for my birthday presents, I came away empty handed while the FD picked up all sorts of goodies.

We headed to the movie and I was extremely disappointed in it. I won't go into details because I don't know how many Harry Potter readers/watchers are out there but if anyone would care to discuss, I would be glad to.

Monday morning we slept in, FD made me blueberry pancakes and then we spent most of the day working in the garden and on some projects outside. His parents stopped by on their way home from Pennsylvania so we had dinner with them and they stayed overnight and left this morning.

It was a fun and relaxing weekend and now I'm gearing up for a super busy week! Hope everyone else had a great weekend.

So glad you had a fun weekend despite the change in plans. I love fall too -- which is why I've like this summer so much :)

What an interesting life you live- running over to the states for some shopping. so cool. Sorry it didn't happen.

But I am glad you enjoyed your holiday in August for no reason. = )

(I am home. Slow to get back into everything- but I am here in Colorado- further from Canada!)

You raised something I am also wondering. Why do we get the first Monday of August off? I mean, I really don't complain (I am more than happy about it).

Actually, it is kind of weird for me to have that day off because I'm from QC which does not have that day off and I have been living in ON for only 2 years...

Ah these sweet mysteries in life... :)
