When Evalyn was born, this wee blog transformed from Lucy’s Life to Me, E and Baby Makes Three in an effort to stay current and reflect the happenings of our life. When I found out I was pregnant with Gwen, I knew that there would have to be more changes around this here blog, as Me, E and Baby Makes Three clearly was no longer applicable.
But, you know, life happens and sometimes gets in the way and I just never got around to making the changes.
Until now.
I’m so excited to introduce the new (and hopefully improved)….
Crocs and Socks: Life of One Chick and Her Country Hick
When thinking about the changes I wanted to make to the blog, I wanted it to be something that would clearly and accurately reflect our life. Something to sum us up in a few words. Something to capture our family, the current themes of our life ... something that screams US.
And that’s how Crocs and Socks was born.
If you’ve been around long enough, you’ll know that my husband, Evan, is an outdoors man. A farm boy. A hick for lack of a better word.
You’ll also know that he’s not a fashionista.
Unless it’s Sunday morning and we’re headed to church, you will undoubtedly find him in his work clothes. Even if he’s not working. Because, even when he’s not working, he’s still working. At something. Fiddling. Building. Cleaning up shop. There have been many times we’ve been in public and I suddenly realize he’s dressed in less than his Sunday best – usually mean he’s wearing a paint splattered camo shirt, cut off jean shorts (um, yeah, he does) and, most importantly, his crocs with socks.
But, you know, despite his poor, poor fashion choices, we love him anyway. He’s my husband. Their daddy. Our provider. The heart of this family.
And, now, as we are in the beginnings of our journey as parents and home owners, his motivation and hard work becomes more and more evident.
We are a young family living our dreams. We have spent years dreaming of raising a little family in a little country home that we can call our own. And here we are. We have just purchased our first home on a 1.5 acre lot in the country and are in the process of making major renovations. We are in the throes of infancy and toddlerhood. My husband is working hard to establish his business. I’m working hard to survive – and embrace – motherhood. Together, we’re working hard to build a life for ourselves and our babies … all while sporting our Crocs &Socks.

(Thank you so much to the wonderful and talented Jess from Wrangling Chaos for making my visions for the blog come to life … even though I had no idea what my visions were. If you’re looking for a blog design, she’s your girl!)

This made me laugh, I come from a family where the guys are exactly the same. Then I go and marry the complete opposite! My husband tells ME when I look sloppy. Awkward. Love the design!
