I spent this morning marking exams and then went out for a lovely run/walk with the dog around noon. Honestly, it would have been more of a run than a walk if the dog hadn't gotten tired and refused to run. Seriously, shouldn't it be the other way around? Let me tell you, I was so pumped to wear Capri's and to have to tie my jacket around my waist because I was too hot. Could it be? Is Spring really here?
I have spent the rest of the afternoon in the kitchen getting things ready for my party tonight. All the girls in my class are coming over for the evening and little does ONE of them know, it's actually a surprise Bachelorette party for her as she is getting married in a few weeks.
As I began the process of preparing Taryn's Black and White Cheesecake Squares, I started battling with my hand mixer. Whenever I use this thing it results in frustration, dough flying everywhere and me giving up and mixing by hand. During this bout of frustration I started day dreaming ....
My thoughts began fluttering as I pondered the day when mixing will be easy. The day when I will find joy in scraping the batter from the side of the bowl. The day when all of my ingredients will remain inside the bowl rather than on my shirt, my cupboards, my walls and my floor. In my dreams I had a vision of the perfect mixer.
Someday, Sweet Baby, you will be mine. But for now, it's back to reality.
I'm off to cut out construction paper bikini tops. Yes, we are most definitely playing "Pin the Boobies on the Groom" tonight.
Psst..Don't forget to enter my giveaway!

Lucy, your life will change when you get the Kitchen Aid mixer...you need to get one!!!
I've had one of those mixers and have only used it once! Yes I'm ashamed. I just don't have any counter space right now where we live and it's such a hassle to drag it out so I grab my hand mixer instead. I really need to learn to love mine. I know that life overall would be so much easier!
Ok, Lucy...even me, who is a terrible cook, loves my Kitchen Aid mixer. Jessica, it IS big and heavy, and I don't want mine out on the counter either. I hide it in an underneath cabinet and it takes up a lot of room, but I have found LOTS of good uses for it...Lucy, you MUST save up and ask for one for your birthday, next holiday, etc...!
Here's what I use mine for...
Brownie mix...yes the hand mixer is smaller and compact, but you can let the Kitchen Aid mixer do it all and walk away and do your dishes while it mixes for you!
Cake mix...
Bread mix...
Mashed potatoes...this one is a life saver...no more hand mashing, sore elbow, and lots of clean up. Just put the potatoes right in, and the mixer does it ALL! Again, I walk away and do the dishes while it works!
They never go on sale though, and are $299...Yikes...I asked for it for Christmas though, and Santa was very kind. All your savings on your savvy grocery shopping could be put toward this! :-) hee hee
Have an awesome time tonight!!!! Can't wait to see all the decorations, and tastey foods I know you are whipping up!
Have fun! :-)
I want one of those mixers so bad! I was in Williams Sanoma the other day and they had a copper one....$1079! Can you believe that? I'd so go for the pink one any day.
LOL enjoy your party!!
I am also dreaming of a kitchen aid mixer. I bright orange one. I don't even have a hand mixer... I do it all with a spoon :\
I'd like to see the photos of this party! A few years ago when I was at my sister's, Katie and Amy went to a party for a bride-to-be (I believe, but don't know who. Was it you?) and those photos involved one very long balloon between two small round ones, tied around the waist.
The Kitchen Aid mixer is like no other! Your world will be turned upside down when you get it! It is well worth the wait!!
Hope you had a great time at your Surprise Party :)
I would love the Metallic Gray one. It would be at home with our other appliances.
haha I LOVE my red kitchen aid mixer! You will never ever go back!
